Evaluation Criteria for Database Tools
Information technology is constantly evolving. Databases are commonly used in the IT world to transfer information from one source to another whether it be through the internet or locally. There are many different organizations who use databases for one reason or another whether it be a bank keeping a track of different transactions or a website keeping a track of posts, databases are constantly changing and the technology behind it changes as well.
Our evaluation criteria examines and highlights the best database tools that are provided to interact with different database formats.
The first aspect that we review is the application’s compatibility with the database being accessed. Can the application support the database properly or is there consistent data loss or other issues with the database?
We also review how easy to use and navigate the tool is to prevent accidents from happening for both experienced and new users. When evaluating ease of use we focus on the level of ease to change information, track it, or import and export data into the database.
Next we assess the support that is offered with the database tools. Is the support team able to help with software and database connectivity issues? How effective is the support team at addressing the problems and preventing data loss?
Our fourth criterion focuses on the features of the software. Does the software help the user import and export information, manage information coming and going from the database, or even change or manage access to the database?
Lastly, we evaluate the software’s reporting methods. How does the software allow for reporting of the information inside of the database? Is the user able to export the information from the database into various formats?
