Evaluation Criteria for Flash Software
Flash has become one of the most used formats for interactive applications on the internet. Being a strong development platform capable of integrating different features and functions into a website, developers and designers use flash as a way to create animations and to integrate content in new and different ways. Flash software aids in the development of flash applications from both a design and a development standpoint, allowing for images and content to be integrated and for certain functions to be carried out.
Our evaluation criteria highlights the most powerful flash applications that aid in the design and development of a website.
The first aspect that we evaluate is the ease of use. Is the software open to a wide variety of users with different levels of skill? Without having a steep learning curve, are users are able to create flash animations and interactive content through the use of preset animations or functions created for flash environments?
Next we review the software’s compatibility with different image and media formats. Is it possible to integrate sound or video into the operating of a flash application created with the software?
The overall quality of the flash software is also reviewed. This focuses on the final product created using the software to analyze the quality of the flash animation and the efficiency of the flash format to export images and videos. We also review the balance of quality and file size.
A fourth criterion reviews the ability to expand the software through the use of third-party tools and plug-ins in order to create new effects for the flash document. Does the software have import and export functions allowing for the use of other flash programs or other design programs to create an interactive environment?
Lastly, providing quality support is very important aspect of our evaluation of the flash software. Is there a support team able to assist the user with most problems inside of the software or with compatibility with different formats? How available is the support team to the users? What is the average time it takes to resolve issues?
