Evaluation Criteria for HTML Software

Website designers and developers both use HTML software in order to create websites that appeal to the users visually and function properly in a wide variety of different browsers. Each different HTML software has its own features and methods of adding content to a website or editing a standard HTML page while other editors also work with other types of code including PHP, ColdFusion, and Ruby on Rails. With software that supports these different types of code, there are many different types of HTML software available.

Our evaluation criteria for HTML software focuses on the important aspects from both design and development standpoints to highlight the best HTML software available.

The first aspect that we evaluate focuses on compatibility from a coding standpoint. We review the software’s ability to edit many different types of code from one central location. Can the user modify standard HTML, Javascript, and other types of code from the software? From a development standpoint, we review the software’s ability to work with different types of pages. Is the user able to import from design websites?  Does the software ensure cross-browser compatibility?

Next we assess the functionality of the software based on the types of functions and features that the software provides to the user in order to produce the best work possible. We take into account the variety of functions and features that can aid developers in generating code compatible with different browsers and operating systems.

Then we focus on the support available for the technical aspects of the application. Does the vendor provide an experienced support team able to provide insight on the operation of the application?

Compatibility is the fourth criterion identified by us. Is the software able to edit a wide variety of documents and integrate different types of content into a page to create an interactive site? Can content be embedded in the scripting created by the software?

Lastly, the overall performance of the software is also reviewed. Does the software take full advantage of the hardware in a computer to operate fast and efficiently?
