Role: UI Standards & Components Engineer
Group Overview
This role is part of the Global Transaction Banking GTB Technology organization within the DBGT Cary Office. GTB is heavily dependent on web-based applications that are used by tens of thousands of corporate and FI clients and thousands of internal users. The systems provide access to the bank&rsquos cash management, treasury, payments, trade finance, FX, money markets, issuer and investor services products.
DB is a leader in many of these markets with fantastic execution capability and global footprint in more than 70 countries. These tools are the main mechanism for doing business across our 4 billion division. These applications are often used by clients for hours a day- they are fundamental tools that our clients need to do their jobs. Usability, efficiency, intuitive design and speed are critical to the success of our franchise.
Team and Role Description
The User Experience Team uses the latest technologies and methodologies to create new products and transform legacy web and mobile applications. The team is responsible for product design, development and delivery of the future GTB application suite and plays an integral part in the our customers&lsquo overall experience with the GTB business. We interact with both product management and customers in order to provide innovative solutions that make our customers both productive and excited about doing business with DB.
The UI Standards & Components engineer is a critical role in the overall GTB Web and Mobile Web application development and will concentrate on building common library of web Interface components that will be used by both the Web developers and designers. This individual will be part of team that entrenches the UI standards use by providing common ui components, code snippets, and best practises but will also take part in discrovering new techniques and technologies to visual large volumes of financial data including, graphing, data mining and sorting. They must be willing to work in an Agile and enviornment where change and re-invention seen as postives.
The ideal candidate will be a creative UI technology expert who understands the technical nueances of different browsers and HTML standards, the capabalities and limitations of Javascript UI toolkits, an ability to encapsulate UI concepts in single entity for common re-use, along with a strong understanding of Web Services and UI databinding. Aditionally the candidiate should have experience in clientserver data validation techniques as well as the ability to write tools which help reduce the human error web development and provide cross browser functionality. An ability to build interactive analytical graphs will is a strong plus.
Responsibilities and Attributes
&bull Working with Designers and Information Architects, create UI components which both provide unique visualization of financial information an intuative data entry capabilities.
&bull Create tools which help reduce human error and redundant development allowing application developers to make rapid changes in the user interface.
&bull Strong understanding of browsers, plugin technologies, HTML standards.
&bull Abiltiy to build high performance components that work at an enterprise level.
&bull Ability to creatively see competitive as well as design new UI techniques that can be applied to our current portfolio.
&bull Provide tools and techniques for databinding, data validation and query techniques using a clientserver model.
&bull Used to working in an Agile environment providing rapid prototypes which can be validated by customer feedback.
&bull A proven track record of working in multi cultural, geographical diverse environments.
Technologies:
&bull Experience in the following technology areas are preferred
o Java technology JSP, servlets, JPA, SOAP & web services, XML, JSON
o JavaJ2EE Developer frameworks &ndash Hibernate, JPA, Metro, Jersey
o Web Development technologies &ndash HTML5, CSS3, JQuery, Flex, Javascript, AJAX, GWT, SmartClient, MooTools, Dojo, etc.
o PerformanceDebug tools &ndash Firebug, Yslow, Page Speed, dynaTrace
o UI Concepts &ndash Event driven modeling, concurrency, graphic optimizations, databinding, Validation techniques, Graphing
o Development tools &ndash Eclipse, Ant, Maven
o Products: Apache Web server, Oracle Weblogic application server
Experience and Education
&bull Significant experience building UI Frameworks & development tools Web prefered
&bull 7 years software development in User Interfaces
&bull 2 years in AJAX Web Development
&bull Undergraduate Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent diploma work experience
&bull Profound analytical skills
&bull Excellent communication and presentation skills, fluent in English
&bull Ability to work in virtual teams and in matrix structures in a fast paced environment
