Job Description:
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, Customer Loyalty, the Web Designer will be responsible for the creative design of ecommerce interfaces from outbound emails to content pages to transactional forms on the Entertainment.com site. Scope of work includes email design for acquisition and retention production of external advertising units as well as new and revised Entertainment.com site pages. The designer will create elegant, appealing, and extensible designs through user-centric design principles. The Web Designer will help to set the standards for design development, serve as user advocate through out the design execution process. The designer will work closely with team in the development of designs and front-end engineers to ensure all style guidelines are met. The designer will produce mock-ups, prototypes, and the final design solutions with sensitivity to project timelines and deadlines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Execute Design. Applies best practices, HCI, industry standards, HTML coding and experience to develop online marketing collateral including site pages, forms and modules, emails, and ad units.
- Innovate. Adapt to new trends in email, Web design and information technology, offering multiple solutions to design challenges.
- Drive revenue. Assist in creating revenue opportunities for the company directly from marketing collateral and Entertainment.com website through creative design.
- Brand stewardship. Integrates web assets e.g. graphics, text, content, function etc. to ensure they are consistent with corporate branding, communications, products and services.
- Collaborate. Foster, promote and build a positive team environment throughout the area. Actively engages in brainstorming sessions and testingdevelopment proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS
    BABS with an emphasis in Graphic Design or Fine Arts courseware or equivalent experience.
    2-3 years professional design experience with a minimum of 2 years of email and Web interface design experience.
    Thorough knowledge of Adobe Photoshop CS3, Dreamweaver CS3, Illustrator CS3 and Flash CS3.
    Solid HTML coding skills, javascript familiarity a plus
    AppleMac proficiency.
    Excellent typographical and conceptual design skills.
    Experience with a high-traffic, database-driven consumer site andor retail site.
    A portfolio of email and Web design with examples of Graphical User Interface design.
    Strong understanding of information architecture and information hierarchy.
    Familiarity with HCI theory and best practices and Web 2.0 fundamentals.
    Understanding of multi-variable testing and design evolution principles.
    Critical eye for detail and attention to proofing and consistency.
    Excellent problem solving skills required.
    Ability to grasp new technologies and skills quickly and efficiently.
    Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to interact well with other departments.
    Ability to work independently, make appropriate decisions without undue input.
    High motivation self-directed with the ability set priorities and meet deadlines.
    Able to communicate in an open environment where constructive criticism is given and received to the betterment of the team and the product.
    High degree of passion about web design and technology, expressing interest and drive in learning new techniques and technologies.
